Mine was a bit like Zimm's:

Honda VFR750 FM - it had over 100,000 miles on the clock at this stage, and after losing a fairing panel somewhere, looked like this:



So one warm sunny day (remember those?) I bought 8 cans of matt black spray from a car boot sale for about £10, and used 4 of them to do this:



Which drastically improved it, if you ask me!
