annoying noise
hi everyone recently ive been getting a weird tapping type noise from my engine the higher i rev the more it taps the closest thing i can think of which sounds like it is when you put a card in between the spokes of a bicycle wheel

Re: annoying noise
do you have a card stuck in your wheel?
check that first
then have a look at your camchain and tensioner

Hi
My boss test drove my ZXR and said it has the same problem (my test is tomorrow)
if You sort this out could you explain how you did it.
Please say i dont have to take the engine out!!!
Cheers

Re: annoying noise
most likely valve clearances. Engine doesnt need to come out but its supposed to be alot lot easier. Theres a guide writtem by Mori Man on how to do the clearances. Its at least a half days work if you havent done it before.

Re: annoying noise
im going to guess its a worn out cam follower (tappet).. loose valve clearances arent normally audible at high revs no matter how slack they are.
if its on the intake side i think its engine out to do it.. exhaust side is tight, but doable in the frame from memory.
