Coils , interchangeable ??????

Post by BrianZXR »

Am seriously thinking about changing the coils on my h2 model , i have a reason , my spark aint all that smart , i have iridium plugs with standard caps and coils , 3 of the 4 ht leads aint standard (seem very thin compared to original) so i know they wont be helping ,but times are hard and i want bang for my bucks so replacing all 4 leads with new performance ones is a last option , ive seen afew used sets of zxr400 L model coils with leads and caps about for ok money ,would they be a direct replacement for my H2 ones ? , also ,where would i get the little rubber gromet type things fitted in the frame the coils fasten to ? ? ,struggle to fit my airbox because one coil doesnt fasten back properly , any help would be great :smt003

the rubber bits are called well nuts. should be able to get them from most car/bike places. You can buy HT cable for about a quid a metre, again, from car shops. Hope this helps

edit - i also seem to recall iridium plugs not playing very well in ZXR's. I recently replaced my HT leads and they were buggered. To be honest i'd do the same. I bought 2 metres but only need one. Can have it for postage if you want

I can think of no reason that L coils wont fit and work. The rubber things are called "well nuts" search ebay for rubber well nuts and you should find them

Thanks alot peeps , think ill replace the leads , my standard caps are fine and the coils work fine (when its dry) so spend my rubles on just new cable ,anybody have any recomendations ? ,good makes ? ,also ,where my coils are and the frame meets the headstock there is a fair size gap that when the front whel flicks up water it seems to fly straight up through the gap soaking my coils , should there be something there ? it does have that plastic cover on the head but it doesnt reach and cover this gap at the top , god i wobble on :wanker
