Which Bike?

Post by Brett »

Hello all, been a while.
Anyway, after finally selling my gsxr400 I am now just about to buy a new bike. Cos of low funds I am pretty limited and am currently looking at a 1993 yzf750 and a 1994 zxr750.
Both are in a similar condition, which is good for age.

The yzf is tweaked a little and puts out 110 at the back wheel. It is taxed and tested.

The zxr comes with shoei lid and alpine star boots, hiene and gerrrick bottoms and has a slip on. It has no mot, but will easily pass.

Looks wise, personally I think they are both great looking bikes and couldn't choose one over the other.

I think I will get them for around the £900-£1000 mark.

Please advise?

p.s. I hope you have all been well.

get the zxr, no contest, yzfs are shite :smt003 seriously the zxr750 is more a sports bike than the yzf, it wouldn't even need thinking about.

Hi,

I Agree, better looking, better handling and plenty of toys to add onto them. Personally I think you'll get alot more respect with the zxr due to being quite old and it's classic looks. Me myself wouldn't mind owning 1 in the same colours as my lil zxr400!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm yummy!

I'm going to disagree - get the YZF!

It was the ultimate sportsbike when it came in and whupped ass in the superbike championship! There was some issue with something to do with the needles wearing away and you should check the Exup valve and other than that they're bomb-proof.

They're lighter than the ZXR and a very under-rated bike. I was seriously looking at buying one a few years back, but out of the official colours there's only one scheme that doesn't look like a Scouse shellsuit.

Hmm... ok, so that's not great, either. They're still the better bike, though! That's why they had to bring out the ZX-7R to keep up with them. :smt002

Thanks lads, I think I'll go with the zxr. Went for a test ride on a yzf and it felt weird. The grips felt too close together.
