It lives
I got her running but air mixture must be awful! Won't tick over on her own, wee bit of revs required however I don't think my neighbours in Carrick appreciate it as must as I do!
Can anyone advise? Sounds a bit clunky, am I paranoid?

Haven't tried the clutch yet as the cable is buggered. The whole thing will need set up. To be honest I'm just pleased it started. Diagnostics time now for everything else...should be fun but strangely I'm looking forward to it...

You're prob right about the carbs...and the rest for that matter. Need to get this oil situation sorted. Changed it yesterday so will give it a check then possibly again with an engine flush. Hopefully the head won't have to come off!!
Then it's carbs, electrics and bodywork and hopefully breaks to finish her off

hmmm, sounds like water has gotten in there. Have you found the 'split pipe' yet?

Re: It lives
No 'split' pipe as yet... More like split gasket I think. Need rip all that stuff of the top and get a bloody good hoke around. Unfortunately work and 'her' have taken over the last couple of days so gonna try to put my foot down and get my finger out!

Re: It lives
Sounds very much like a head gasket failure to me, that would explain the problem with it idling too as there will be a lack of compression.

Re: It lives
Turns out it was petrol in the oil! The engine seems ok, need to sort the brakes out then it's up to nutts corner race track for a couple of hours for a blast around and see if anything goes wrong. Will have to set carbs too but I suppose Rome wasn't built in a day...
