Not sure about the engine number, theres a link to a japanese site somewhere that has frame numbers, use search for that.

If it is an SP engine, it'll likely have flat slides and quite a tall first gear.

I don't think a SP engine can be identified from just the engine number..........................

SP engines have CR gearboxes and a taller than normal first gear............also the overall internal ratios are different leading to a 16 tooth output shaft sprocket being the standard fitment. There is also a difference in the cut out hole in the gears themselves.

SP motors come with bolt on cam shaft sprockets these sprockets are also slotted to allow for adjustment.

I've heard it said the SP cylinder heads come with a letter stamped on one side externally but I've not ever seen this and I have 3 SP engine that do not have this mark.

Given the age of the ZXR and the considerable interchangability of parts I doubt that engine numbers would be a reliable indicator of an engines exact identity.

Oh and the search falicity up there on the top right hand side is a great way of getting this kind of information and saves me a lot of typing
