Re: HELP on tuning my 400 H1
Full exhaust system (an end can will just give more noise) + jetting
Bigger carb's or flatslides
ZX-4 or SP cams

Nothing worse than having an H and not being able to scratch it !

How much difference do sp cams make? I imagine the standard one's are already fairly high lifting?Mori Man wrote:Full exhaust system (an end can will just give more noise) + jetting

Re: HELP on tuning my 400 H1
id agree with cargo. If you want to tune a 400 to use on the road, you may aswell buy a 600 for the money you will spend.
i would leave the cams standard, deffo leave the flatslides alone, leave the airbox standard with the standard filter.
Look around and get a micron system or even better a swona. They both come up fairly often for around 150 - 200 quid.
get the thing healthy and fueling right and jobs a goodun.

Re: HELP on tuning my 400 H1
flatsides are a type of carburettor..........as fround on a particular model of ZXR400 they can with an engine tune and a decent exhaust along with careful set up give a power increase...................
I absolutly promise you the the best thing you can do with your ZXR400 is to run it with a good exhaust system and either a standard air filter or a K&N filter and have it well set up much as Kahe says....................tuning a ZXRis not cheap and it comes with a degree of unreliability.
A good idea would be to get the handling well sorted get a good rear shock and have your forks reworked.................far better to spend your money on suspension.
