Hi, had my zxr for about 5 months or so now and not really had any problems until lately. It's an intermittent problem, sometimes it runs ok but then sometimes it runs really lumpy and has no power. Kind of sounds almost like a twin when it does it, sort of chugs along. Opening the throttle up and letting it rev seems to let sort it for a minute but then it goes back to how it was before again. Lost for idea's atm, going to clean the carbs out tommorrow and see if it helps, any other ideas what it could be?
Cheers

Re: Running lumpy as hell
sounds like damp getting to the HT leads, have you changed the plugs or leads recently?
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

Not changed them no but had them off to do the cam chain quite recently, although it was ok for about a week after I changed it.
I'll check the leads tommorrow and see if it helps

Re: Running lumpy as hell
Been having a look at it today, it's deffo carb issues. The two rh carbs seem to be flooding and were coming out the overflow in the pic. Was also petrol on the outside of the carb on both of them, wondered why it was using so much fuel when I took the tank off lol. Heres a vid of what it sounds like as well. Been told it could be o-rings, assuming they're to do with the needle vavle as they look a little perished, are 20 years old after all lol.

Thats definately not well is it.
If its flooding then yes the floats are either sticking or the o rings have had it. As you say the orings are getting on a bit so a clean and small overhaul wont do the carbs any harm.

Deffo these o rings that need replacing, just taking them off caused one of them to split. Any idea where to get a new set or just what exact size they are? Can get a single repair kit on ebay but it's about £50 for the set, bit steep tbh.

Give cradley kawaski a call. U should get a small discount if you mention zxrworld. no idea how much they are, 50 for a set of four sounds steep.

Got some from the local parts shop this morning for £1.20 for the lot lol. Found them online for £12 for the lot just because it says kawasaki on the front lol.
Seems to have sorted it now aswell.
