Snow pictures! Competition?

Post by gavinfdavies »

Seems like snow is on the way! :excited I hereby suggest that all of us mad enough to commute in the snow should post pictures of our daring exploits. Best picture wins a prize (probably your choice of ZXR spare part from my stash!), judging to be done somehow...
I do 700 miles a week in all weathers including snow, that's roughly 35,000 miles a year, and some weekend warrior biker has the nerve to get out of his Audi at work to tell me to I was riding far too fast in the wet (over taking at 50... fast eh?).

had a bit of snow today, work is 20 miles away, not looking forward to any proper laying snow athough i think its too wet for that at the moment. If i do happen to attempt the snow then ill surely take a picture.

i'm now getting desperate for heated grips, my finger tips were number after 12 miles in my best gloves, and work today was 25 miles vsad i'm also tempted to try a heated seat conversion - a pair of oxford hot hand covered with a layer of grippy stuff! Am loveing my top box conversion - £12 for extra pillion seat, £23 for 24l tech7 back box and rack, 5 mins with a drill and some cable ties (the standard bolts aren't long enough) and voila, a small top box kept close to C-of-G and easily removes with just the key if you need to cover the bike.

i like the idea of a competition, been a while since we had one, i'm sure i can conjur up a zxrworld goodie bag for the winner.

lets have your best snow pics then, preferably with some sort of bike in the pic, a lot of us sensible people have put the bikes away for the winter now.

think we need to run it to the end of the year to give everyone chance of some snow.

I doubt I'll be winning this one this year! This'll be my first Winter on four wheels...

Here's a few from last years snow on my ZX9R to get you going!

And of course the "Why the hell was I so stupid?" video:

Good luck all! It can be done if you just take it really easy... (and try and avoid big hills)

You aint fucking kidding! 20 miles to work for me, had to stop after 10 miles it was just too painful. Im off to get some handguards for thre versys tomorrow along with some Oxford heated grips. Call me a poof if you like, but 20 miles at 70-80 mph is one helluva wind chill!!

where abouts in ipswich are you rob? I used to live up wickham market way, went to school in ipswich. Don't think i've been back since i got the bike. I remember there are some sweet roads north of ipswich, i still remember every inch of the b1078 from the liitle chef on the a14/a140 junction, all the way out to wickham market, my own little race track in my old punto!

ok ok ok, i know i haven't got out with my camera yet! my zxr has a slightly flat battery, mainly due to the cold methinks, and my gpz is under 3 inches of snow, and has bald tyres, so i haven't been out much lately! I may be coming home with a 92 trumpet trident 900 after christmas, which could make for an interesting journey!

any way, here's my only pic of my zxr so far...

okay im not quite as brave as you guys are going out in the snow on your bike, in fact i dare even get mine out in the snow as i probably wouldn't be able to shunt it back up the slope into the shed, but i did out on a 'bike' as such. Thought i would post the vid!
