Re: camchain tension
The cam chain adjuster is automatic, so if its making a noise and it is the cam chain, then the tensioner blade is probably worn and the adjuster is at full extension. So only thing is to change the blade im afraid.

Re: camchain tension
the information posted so far is NOT grounds for replacing anything yet.
All you've told us is that your bike rattles at low revs have made an effort to check that it isn't just good old fashioned every single ZXR400 does it clutch rattle?
It's a lot easier to just try that before pulling the cylinder head off to replace the tensioner blade not that a rattling cam chain is certain to be cured by a new tensioner blade in fact you'd only actually need a new tensioner blade if yours is broken.....................it could just as easilly be a knackered tensioner or a maybe the chain itself is worn out...
So lets have a precise and exact discription of this rattle..................and maybe we can help

Ok so after pulling away you get this great dirty knocking sound, more fron the right than the left and up untill around 4k itll just rattle when its pulling unless u really give it some its one of those things you really have to hear for yourself but the noise is getting louder

Re: camchain tension
Obviously every rattle and noise is different but a "knocking noise" is not how I have every heard a cam chain described
I've heard a couple of cam chains rattling on a ZXR and both were only heard at a particular revs above and below that revs nothing was there to hear
Think was about 3K
You noise as you describe does not sound like clutch
Knocking would suggest big end issues to me
