Would that be the same guy that you were condeming a few days back ?

Discs, steering head bearings, chain, sprockets and tyres are all service items that wear and need checking on a regular basis all easy to check all easy to fix and all did not suddenly become worn and a death trap in one day more like poor maintainance over a period of say 2 years ?

I'm not entirely sure why you would need new clocks unless there has been accident damage ?

And I'd only think you'd need a new loom after some idiot has been messing with it or again possibly accident damage ?

He did an mot on it while doing the cam chain or something?

Speedo cable prob broke as result of your accident.....................might just have one somewhere.

And maybe just maybe I've got a speedo too

I might have an old set of tyres that would be legal and get your through you MOT.

I'll have a look see

the speedo cable can also break if its not oiled. Tends to snap internally at the speedo drive end.
These things are sent to try us!!
