Three of the Best
Whilst searching for something else came across this ad in the 1991 MCN TT Supplement. KR1S, ZXR400 & ZXR750. Life doesn't get much better than that...

Thinking about it, that might make an excellent wallpaper
I'll carefully remove it from the mag, get the folds out with the iron, and re-photo at a decent image size. If you want a copy shout up, and PM me your email address if I don't already have it.

Done. Here's what it looks like with the whole ad
Which I think looks a bit messy, as you can't read the ad text and some is missing.
So here it is with that lot cropped and tweaked to fit a large desktop screen
Better
Also tweaked the colour to bring it back to life.
Quite happy for Baz to take a copy and post it on the site as a downloadable wallpaper.

Re: Three of the Best
I don't go a bundle on stinkwheels but even I would seriously consider a KR1S. They were serious kit back in the day, enough to see off a 400 4-stroke and could cause serious embarassment to a 750 in the right hands. The RGV250 is another one I wouldn't kick out of the shed. Practical Sportsbikes showed a KR1S a bit back which had been modded with a ZXR400 front end

Re: Three of the Best
where did you get that gorgeous body?! The KR i mean, not your good self (no offence
)
i'm looking at building a zxr minitwin special, using a 600cc gpz500 motor, the low range stomp is phenominal compared to the zxr, and should make better use of the zxr's lightness and nimbleness. i'd be interested in using the front fairings and lowers though I might keep the stock rear.

I do 700 miles a week in all weathers including snow, that's roughly 35,000 miles a year, and some weekend warrior biker has the nerve to get out of his Audi at work to tell me to I was riding far too fast in the wet (over taking at 50... fast eh?).

Re: Three of the Best
Yes, and no. There was a KR1-R in a recent edition with a ZXR front end, but there was also a KR1-S in Edition 1 with the same mod. If I catch anyone breaking ZXRs to mod other bikes with I'll mod their ballszxrob wrote:Yeh, wasn't that a kr-1r with the 400 front endTirpitz wrote: Practical Sportsbikes showed a KR1S a bit back which had been modded with a ZXR400 front end

Re: Three of the Best
dunno, ther kr1-s has got lighter wheels by the look of it, but our forks are nicer.
I'm planning to do something in reverse - squeezing a complete late model daytona 955i triple into my zxr. I was tempted with the blade engine, but the late 955i has about 129rwhp compared to a 929 blade's 122rwhp, and the torque curve is better. The engine mounts look similar, one on the top front of head, and two at the rear. And if I want I can add a newer crank to stroke it up to 1050cc (the street triple is tuned for torque not power, only about 105rwhp, hence the choice of 955i).
