Have had some trouble with my zxr 400, I believe 1999 model.
I believe it to be a coolant tube (which holds a sort of clear-ish) plastic bubble (i assume to see if there is any coolant in the system) located underneath the petrol tank. (in picture 1)
Any how that tube came undone today as I was on my way home from work! It made a right mess coolant everywhere
I'm not sure where it plugs back in to? I tried looking at the manual couldn't find it! see pictures
I have tried looking in the manual with no luck! need some expertise!
The second photo is from the underneath looking up.

Re: Coolant hose help!!
Its the heater pipe for the carbs , you should have a spigot which that feeds onto and a line of PVC tubes going across the bottoms of each carb - sorry no pics as my bike didn't have standard and now has FCRs on it.
The clear bottle actually has a filter in it as the orifices in the carbs are small so the coolant needs extra filtering - this is mostly missing as owners or workshops seem to bin them
MM!

Nothing worse than having an H and not being able to scratch it !
