Well, thats the second time i have run out of petrol now. Bike started to hunt, so changed over to reserve to find there is nothing in there.
Eventually (thank the mrs) get the bike back home, tatke the fuel tap aprt and the little rubber seal has disintegrated again!! Now i know they are only a couple of quid from cradleys and easy to fix but kinda don't want to be running out again. Has anyone come up with a solution for the pants design of these crap fuel taps? Does a decent one from anohter bike fit? Would it be possible to come up with a fuel light solution like on newer modern bikes?
What do you think guys?

Re: Fuel Tap
Never had a fuel tap problem but then mine are on reserve all the time..................
I assume the rubber seal that is breaking down is allowing fuel from the reserve inlet to pass through to the pump..................? ?
The difference between reserve and main is just the length of the pipes on the inside and the tap switches between them
Can't see an easy solution unless the tap from another bike fits..................unless you create another tank outlet with it's own tap

Re: Fuel Tap
yep you got, the rubber disintegrates and allows the fuel tank to completely empty even when in the on position. Hence when you change to reserve you find its already empty!! Might have to get a little inventive

Re: Fuel Tap
spoke to cradleys and they say they sell loads of the rubber things, so they must disintegrate and just be a bit pants. Tho if you fill up every hundred miles you'd never know
