zxr L8 - zx4rr

Hey fellow zxr owners just thought i start a new thread on my zx4rr project

So to start with i making the zxr look a bit more modern looking more 250gp, moto2 style.

As I am quite keen on the race replica styling so I decided I needed a winter project,

so a bit of internet searching I find a Tyga-performance rs 250 aprilia body work kit i have owened the rs in the past so i know the two bike are quite similar in size.

A few emails to there local stockists and i have my idea confirmed with rough sizes for the replacement sub frames and body work diamensions will be close to the zxr's existing mounting brackets.

After a few weeks pondering whether to start the project I notice that the ebay shop has a 10% discount on the body work a quick pitch to the wife and the project was on.

Quite difficult to mount the body work had to make some custom brackets to fit the tyga subframes to the kawasaki chassis rails,

The clock mount support needs alot of work. more on this in a couple of weeks need to source the materials.

The Tyga Rgv 250 body work is very narrow in the front fairing so you may need to widen it. 1 of the reason I did not use

Also the the rear sub frame is alot different wheres the rs is a close fit 2 the zxr.

I've already got a GP style tail, the third image, viewtopic.php?f=87&t=7173
So I'm only interested in the Upper/Lower for a more modern look. I've also contemplated using a late model ZX6r or ZX10r. making them more narrow and altering the ram air to match the 400's intake under the triples.

Just a couple of updates for my project.

Body work coming along quite well should be finished mocking up in the next week or 2

Need to put a couple of smaller side vents lower in the fairing and a hole for the fuel switch.

rear veiw of bike still need to sort the electrics out but i'll look at that when I replace the clocks for some digital gauges.

Picked up a new pipe and headers the last couple of weeks a bit more gp style so will be making those to fit the zxr

As I have nearly finished the mock on the body work I decided to
Fit the new headers and end can for a dry fit to check on clearances before
I go on to the next stage of project.

Just need to take the can down to the local fabricators to get the flange opened out.
And may be a bracket welded on to support the downpipes.
Next stage is carbon wrapping the fibre glass (controversial but I get the look I’m after )

Still working on the project just been a bit to cold need the sun to come along to help the resin to cure quicker. like to be finished by august this year

Just a little up date bike is now at paint shop having the cosmetics sorted out.

Final mock up for fairing will be done this week with the panels ready in a couple of weeks.
