Ok folks I think I've got an SP gearbox.......... but I want to be sure.
I've been counting teeth on gears all morning untill I've now gone cross eyed.
Here's what a normal L model gear box has
1st gear 2.846 37/13
2nd 2.000 38/19
3rd 1.518 30/19
4th 1.318 29/22
5th 1.200 30/25
6th 1.111 30/27
The second set of numbers are the number of teeeth on each gear I got these figure from the manual.
Now to the SP gearbox I have this is what I've counted but am I counting it correctly and are these ratios correct ?
1 st 2.4375 39/16
2nd 1.9411 33/17
3rd 1.6470 28/17
4th 1.4500 29/20
5th 1.3333 28/21
6th 1.2400 31/25
It's clear that the first 2 gears are taller that make sense ? Then the next 4 gears are all lower than their counterparts in a normal L gearbox ?
Question is am I right? Is this a close ratio gearbox ?
sp gear box help ...............please

Hi Cargo...firstly there are 3 sp gearboxes that i am aware of, H1sp-H2sp-L1-L9sp so your gears may vary. One sure way to tell is...sp gearboxes dont have the neutral finder(3 ball bearing) also the 'dogs' have flatsides apposed to rounded. If you want to identify it exactly give me a ring...i have a H1sp and an Lsp on the bench at the moment.
