Hey, my names Scott, I'm 17 and have been riding on a CBT for just over a year. Im looking to get my in-direct access with-in the next few months and hoping to buy myself a tidy zxr 400, but i wanted to check out whether it is a sensible bike to start off on. I have no problem with geared bikes, i had a small 50 geared for the last year and some experiance off road as im sure we all have. So any information advice etc would be great help.

sounds good, ive had a few looks on ebay etc but is ebay the best place to buy a bike? ive never really liked the idea everyone seems dodgey lol. Well hope to see you all in a few months out on me zxr

welcome to the forum, i think you have to be 21 to take your direct access, unless you mean your 33bhp test?

looks like your doing what i have planned.
take the A2 test which at 17 means your allowed on any bike aslong as "it's restricted to 33bhp officer" for the next two years
then two years after the test the affore mentioned "restrictors" come out of the bike and you fire yourself into a hedge with the excitement of it all

33bhp is de-restricted 125 2stroke teritory, but with a 400 restricted you have slightly better torque and the stunning looks that come with the zxr. but bear in mind that if you don't restrict your zxr and ride sensibly for the first two years you will probably not get cort at it (i am not advising you do this btw officer) but you insurance company may take the stance that "the bike wasn't restricted so we're not paying out" so its worth looking at the risks. if i personally lived in the middle of the countryside where the local policemen sits on the park bench observing the local towns 3 shops then i'd be out there ragging the pants off a unrestricted zxr. but if i lived in the middle of a large town where the police vans wait on the street corners then i'd be riding round on a restricted zxr.



o btw officer. my zxr i have sat in the garage on paddock stands in pieces is having restrictors fitted as you read this so that when i get out onto the roads i am fully legal
