hi all,
what do you pay for you services? where do you get them done and what does it include?
i've been offered a "full service" for £250-£300, which includes:
check pads, discs, flush fluid and replace.
balance carbs and adjust idle speed etc.
flush coolant system, check thermostat, replace coolant and thermostat if needed.
flush oil system, replace filter and oil with fully synthetic stuff.
replace fuel filter and air filter.
check valve clearances, adjust if needed with new shims
check cam-chain, replace if needed
change cam-chain tensioner if needed.
other general checks on the frame etc, adjustments that could be needed elsewhere and general road-worthyness checks
i dunno if that sounds good or bad to you lot? but i know the guys as i work 2 shops down, i'll watch them do it so i can learn how to do it again for myself. plus all the other benefits of getting the work done by professionals. let me know what you think and what you pay for your services.
cheers

Re: SERVICE
I paid £150 for a minor service on the gixxer and about 200 for a major service. But neither of these has included checking the valve clearances. considering it includes getting your carbs balanced/vale clearances/etc it doesnt sound too bad to me
Dont stick fully synth oil in it tho, a 10W40 semi would be better

Re: SERVICE
hi all, thought i'd have a go at all this servicing shizzle.
SOO
went and brought a HiFloFiltro oil filter and 4litres (yeh i know i only need 3 but still) for a
£25
the kwak cam-chain tensioner is something like £20+VAT the cam chain is the same
the coolant filters are like £3+VAT air filter was like £25+VAT.
I've decided against a new chain atm, its got an O-ring DID chain on it anyways and the sprockets look fine to me.
so atm i plan to do the following next sunday:
oil and filter change
coolant change and filter
clean air filter for the time being
borrow vacuum gauges and setup carbs
clean everything as i go with some serious abuse of mechanism cleaner
flush and replace brake fluid
attempt camchain tensioner change, take off rocker cover and check the followers for wear and measure valve clearance.
i'll take some pictures along the way and do a little write-up of each to help others who don't like dealers prices.
cheers
