neutral wire

Post by carsounds_dan »

hi,
just wondering the neutral wire shows when in neutral, and when in gear. (the diagram shows it runs to earth but not when).
so i can wire up my alarms remote start in a way that it cant start the bike with it in gear.

cheers
dan

not at all, the neutral system is fine.
i just want to know what the wire shows when in neutral and in gear.
my alarm has remote start, but i want to wire it up so that it can only be engaged if the bike is in neutral. i'm hoping that i can use the wire as pin 86 on a 4 pin relay, pin 85 for the remote start in, 30 for +12v and 87 for start output. but for that to work the neutral wire has to show and earth when in neutral and either possitive or nothing when the bike is in gear.
cheers

But wouldn't you have to have the ignition on first so power is running to the neutral light so it can power the remote start also? Or does the remote starter turn the ignition on aswell as turn it over?

I know what you're talking about, but are you asking which wires to connect the starter to so it only functions (has power running to it) when the neutral light is being powered?

on the wiring diagram it shows that the neutral switch has wire labled LG running into the instrument cluster (for the light) and into one of the CDI boxes under the seat somewhere. i wish to know wether that wire is a switched earth, and if so when it is earth and when it isnt.
i plan to rig up the alarm to run anti-hijack and remote start, so all the ignition wiring will be run through relays run off the alarm, with a manual override option available to me :D
cheers

normally got a live feed, which goes to the light, then out of the light and down to the switch, which makes when in neutral and complets the job.

Why do you want a remote start? pains in the a*se. cant you wire it through the wire that comes out the back of the clutch leaver that means it wont turn over if the bikes in gear like you want.

It shouldnt start if the bike is in gear anyway, because if it is in gear and you try to start the bike doesnt even entertain the thought, theres an automatic cut out for it already on the bike.

It shouldnt pull off with the side stand down no. The whole point of the cut off is that you dont ride off with the stand down and cause yourself a mischief. Hence there is a switch on the clutch lever to tell when you pulling off so that it can kill the engine should you leave the stand down.

yea i no. :smt003 just wondered if dans done it cos if it starts in gear then maybe they have wired the lot up wrong. plus that switch on the clutch lever might be hooked up with the gears so if it rides with the stand down thats the set of wires to start with. but when i was tryin to sort out my back light wires the other week a 5 min job turned into about an hour :smt013 :smt015 always the case thoe :smt005
