I reckon cos there are new spangly go faster super duper 6r's out, pushes the older models prices down.
Now imagine if kawasaki brought out a new super fluper duper zxr400? not only would all of our ones be worth bugger all, but i would have several accidents in my pants

it wouldnt take long .. part of the reason they hold their value is because the "old" zxr is still THE bike to have for 400cc racing.. suddenly it wouldnt be..

***removes pipe from lips***

The answer is elementary my dear Watson.

There are fewer 400s around than 6rs. Rarity equals more dosh.

yea but when you think about it they dont hold there value against the hondas which go for more money despite bein slower (which is daft) but i think most ppl see the 400 a good first sports bike. which is exactly what they are OR a cheap ish bike to track as parts are cheap etc

The Honda's (well the V4 ones, anyway) retailed at a lot more to start with, and as the engines are well known for being bulletproof they're always going to be desireable and hold the value.

Plus the bike they're modelled on still sells for £12,000+, while the ZXR750 that ours were made to mimic weren't all that special.

what dosent really make sence as the zxr750 used to wop the RC30's ect in racing but they dont hold there value in the same way :S

guess its just honda people sticking there heads in the ground and refuse to admit that its not the best

As far as i know...the zxr750 was'nt up to much as a race machine...the rc30 was one of the all time greats, especially on the road circuits.I think the zx7r had alot better results, and the rc45 was never as competative as the rc30.

in 1993 to name some of the stuff it won..

FIM Endurance World Championship,
Kawasaki racers riding the ZXR-7 win the Le Mans 24-Hour Race for the second year in a row
Suzuka 8-Hour Endurance Race

1994-
FIM Endurance World Championship series manufacturer’s champion for the fourth year in a row

its got loads more big race wins but due to lack of following there isnt much info on it.
