I replaced the camchain and tensioner today in one of my engines
I'd read about doing it without splitting the cases and I tried that today
The engine was of course out of the frame and sitting on my bench.
ignition cover off ........cam cover off.... tensioner removed........cam caps off........ camshafts out.......ignition rotor off
Now the tricky bit I used a Dremel to grind away a little bit of the casing just enough to get the camchain off the end of the crank and of course allow the new one to go on and it worked really well.
I rebuilt everything worst bit was that the new tensioner would not fit with the old clutch cable bracket so I had to open up the hole in it a bit........Mr Dremel again.
Whole job was done in about 2 hours.........including checking the valve clearances.
Very easy really and I'd highly recommend this method.
