Thinking of the worst...

Post by carsounds_dan »

Thinking of selling the ZXR
I've been offered a SV650S with stupidly low miles on for stupid money, it's got GSXR750 forks and brakes on it and a full fairings (aftermarket, good fit though) and a lovely M4 exhaust system on it and I must admit I am highly tempted.
but the question I wanna know is what is my ZXR400 really worth?
It's a ZXR400 L4 registered in 95 on an M.
Shes done 37000miles and is a full UK spec bike, Shes had a full service less that 1000 miles ago including camchain, tensioner, rockers, camshafts, valve clearances, carbs balanced and a general clean up. Recent Chain and Sprockets. Green, blue and white bodywork with silver frame. The Front right fork protector thing has a small lump out of it from a stone and there is a small chip of kawasaki green missing off the front mud-gaurd. Less that 2000 miles on the pads front and back. The front fairing has a small split in it on the right corner where it bends. the right main fairing has neumerous small scratches up the sides and signs of boot wear against it by the rear brake. The left main fairing has similar signs of wear but is tidier than the other side. The tail section fairings are clean and tidy. There is a little scoring on the frame on the right spar, only minor covering an area of about 3 inches by an inch and a half. The frame is not bent in anyway. It has crash bungs, a genuin kawasaki pillion grab rail and pillion pegs, also has mini indicators all round which neaten the look up conciderably.
It's MOT'd till beginning of August 08 I think, Taxed till May 08.
I can restrict it if needed and there is also a spare engine with a believed 8000 miles on it.
Cheers

Dan

i'll give it 2 hours, don't do it mate you will regret it, took my mates sv out when i had my zxr400 and it was pants compared to the zxr, if you want to move up to a 600 or bigger go zx6r or zx7r.
Don't forget people there is more to the zxr400 than this forum... check out www.zxrworld.co.uk also.

SV isnt a bad bike but it IS a commuter bike. So if your commuting with the odd black lane thrash then the SV is better suited to you. But for me i'll take the longer rout into work to have fun, go out at lunch and have fun, then come home and have fun. So sports bikes are better suited to my riding.

I know it's a comuter, but I'm gunna be doing 40 miles comuting a day during the summer each way and possibly more.
The SV i've been offered has the front end upgrade which will make it handle better, the truth is that I simply do not use the handling capabilities that the ZXR can offer.

thing is I quite look the look of the SV and it's a bit more of a project as there is more tuning gubbings about.
apart from the handling what else is there to look out for when coming from the zxr to an sv.
cheers

I used to have a CG125, it was an ace little bike, took everything i threw at it, burnouts, rolling burnouts (no im not joking), constant attempts at wheelies, could only pull a 1 inch stoppie the drum brakes werent upto it and i used to thrash my mate on his mito round the streets. I think he may have been too scared to drop it tho so was slower. Either way it was an absolute laugh the one i had! :smt003
