new streetfighter build
hi there
can anyone give me ideas. i recently got a dismantled zxr400 H1 off a friend and was going to convert it into a street fighter. nothing as outragoues as that one on ebay with the skulls and ribs on the tank but just something simple as this is my first attempt at building this kind of bike. if anyone has any pics or anything that can be of help that would be great.
cheers

Re: new streetfighter build
go buy some issues of streetfighter magazine and maybe bsh for a few custom ideas, i'm building atm. set yourself a realistic budget and then just let your imagination run away with you.

Re: new streetfighter build
where dya wanna start? go look on ebay.de for streetfighter
have a look on http://www.disturbingthepeace.co.uk and check out the motorcycle links directory i have amassed, there's a specific section for streetfighters and some damn good websites to keep you going forever!
i presume you're gonna ditch the fairing? set of risers drill the top yokes (fortunately the zxr400 have beefy top yokes as std) fit risers and drag bars, depends on your budget at the end of the day?
what is your budget?

Re: new streetfighter build
got a load of ideas of that site. too many to be honest
budjet wise i dont know. its a project bike bike and i am in no rush with it so would just be doing it bit by bit
the first thing i am going to look at is the front and belly pan. i like the idea of putting on a belly pan. does any one know of a one that fits or could you use the orginal fairings and just butcher them
. my side fairings are ok (scrathes and small cracks). after that could anyone recomend a nice headlight unit that they have seen.
cheers for all the help and will let you know how i get on

Re: new streetfighter build
is there a differnce
new to the whole streetfighter scence. in ireland its not really big so i dont know that much. bought a few magazines at the weekend and just had a quick read only so far. the worst about it is trying to decide between things. like for instance the headlight unit. one with a small fairing or just a headlight. would like both but maybe the fairing is more pratical cause you can hide the speedo and stuff behind it. the best friend owns a metal work shop and would help me with polishing the frame and swing arm if i was going to go down that road but still looking at powercoating. some of hte pictures on that website are unreal the way people have come up with stuff

you could get your mate to mod the subframe and jack it up a touch and use the original plastics, you may have to trim them by the tank to look good, vertigo headlight and make a belly pan from your plastics.similar to this, this is one of my faves!!

Re: new streetfighter build
i'd go cafe racer style ..
H shape single seat unit, clipons, round headlight, flyscreen, chrome mini-clocks, lots of polished/chrome bits, twin (one each side) exhausts, fill in and smooth over the intake holes in the tank.. small belly pan (maybe)
if you could get the tank chromed, and did the panels black with some classic pinstriping ... crackle black finish on the frame and swinger ..
maybe .. dunno, be different though
