150mph slight prob!
hi guys,
right to start off my bike runs very well, very slight flatspot at around 6k revs but you aint ever gonna get them all ironed out!
my bike is a giraffe for suffering with carb icing too, so i have a new carb heater pipe filter on order just incase the original is blocked
so back to the prob, on sat i got on the Mway and it was clear so i thought i would open her up, i got to 150mph and lost my bottle but i did hold it at 150 for a good 15-20secs, when i backed off then got back on it the bike hesitated and felt just like it does when it suffers carb icing!
which is odd as it was getting cool but not freezing cold.
as soon as i coasted a bit it was fine again.
im wondering if at high speeds the air gets so cold that it could cause slight carb icing?
this is the first time i have noticed this as its the first time i have taken it much over 130mph
would b interested in your views, i hear kwaks can have these sorts of probs due to their ram air

Re: 150mph slight prob!
I have same thing at a tonne going into a corner (on private racetrack, of course) when I back off and then try getting back on the throttle.
If I turn petrol to RES it doesnt do it - Only when fuel is on ON.
Still trying to find the cause....

Re: 150mph slight prob!
i would think its more a fuel starvation thing so may be worth looking at upgrading the fuel pump?

Re: 150mph slight prob!
if the fuel pump is working...which it obviously is as the bike runs, shouldnt it have been designed for the bike?
cant see how it needs upgrading
first time its happend as first time i have ridden at that speed but doubt i will be doing it again as i cant afford to lose my license

Re: 150mph slight prob!
your fuel pump could be tired mate? and when your travelling at those sort of speeds needs to give a good constant flow which a tired pump may be struggling with hence the fuel starvation, maybe fitting one off a later zx9 zx10 would help??Gemini wrote:if the fuel pump is working...which it obviously is as the bike runs, shouldnt it have been designed for the bike?

and if you wanna keep your licence not a good idea to post on a public forum that police could use as evidence?
