Howdy

Post by MonkeyBusiness »

Hi All,

My name is Bruce, and I have been riding motorbikes for about two years. I have a Triumph Daytona 675, which I use on weekend breakfast runs etc. I also have a Honda CRF230, which I use for off-roading. I have just recently (last week) bought an L3 ZXR400 racing-spec track bike, as I do not want to risk dropping my 675 on the track.

I have only recently been given the MonkeyBusiness nickname, due to me hitting a fully grown Baboon at 215km/h on our Sunday breakfast run about 3 weeks ago. I fortunately did not drop my 675, but damaged the fairing slightly, bent my brake pedal 180 degrees, and damaged the ligaments in my right ankle. The doctor said that if it wasn't for my racing boots, I would probably have lost my foot. More importantly, I definitely think I cheated death on this occasion :smt018

welcome mate like RobB thinking of aving a 675 took 1 out for a test ride nice :smt003 . So it's a toss up between that and a new R1. Still keeping the ZXR though to much fun.

Well, I have had the 675 since November, and it is an absolutely awesome machine. It is mindlessly quick, and is only about 0.1 of a second slower 0-100km/h than most 1000cc bikes. On the track, it is quicker, and easier to ride, than many 1000cc bikes (obviously depending on the track).

I actually dumped the bike on the track two weeks before the Baboon incident. I was racing with a professional on a GP-spec 250, but he was making me look silly in the corners. I was pushing myself too hard, messing up my lines, not squaring off the corners properly etc. I came into a corner too hot and ran off the track onto the grass. Unfortunately, the front slipped out and I dumped it. Broke the right indicator, bent the right handlebar and the brake pedal. Had some minor scratches on the fairing. This was my reason for buying the racing-spec ZXR. It will be a lot of fun on the track, and cost a hell of a lot less to run and/or repair! I am also looking forward to giving some of the 600cc bikes a hard time, just like the 250cc did to me :smt013
