How to turn a Zorst into a Bike

Post by Mori Man »

Was hunting about looking for zorst's (as I do :smt002 ) and happened across a BEET Ti system :smt001

Translated the description which tied in nicely with the photos, now the thing was - he couldn't be bothered removing it from the bike so it came with it shocking

It had a buy it now price and some one asked if they bought it outright would the delivery be included - the seller agreed and I clicked the button :smt003

80,000 Yen delivered to my door = £377.10 :smt004

The bikes a non-runner, sitting for 3yrs and the battery is fecked. I'd assume the carbs are gummed up and the fuel will be off too ! So when it arrives i'll take the carbs off and give them a good cleaning, empty the tank out and put a litre of fresh stuff in , take the battery out my bike and see if i can get it fired up.

Then it will be strip down time :smt003 I'll have my SP front end to put on it so not worried about the USD's , got the triple clamp for fitting the ZX636 USD's on the ZRX and if I dont like the look (doubt) it can go on this too biggrin

And of course I've even got one of these to go on the tank

and I want to find one of these to get the gull arm off it :smt007

(Actually bought the zorst of this one :smt005 )

Need to clear my cupboard now and find my toolbox again

For my bike i am down to 4 which is good for me - it was 7 and has been 12 geek

For other bikes 3 which is still good as it generally sits around 5 or 6 but i got a few sold last week , but another two will arrive over the next few days so will be back up to normal levels again :smt005

It's a confirmed fetish :smt019 Flippin Titanium "fire effect" :smt007 can't get enough of it :smt016

BTW, it's about to start with this bike :smt018

Got a BEET on it, I have another system in the pipeline and also want to try a Dual twin pipe race system , can each side :smt007 Tsukigi's are thin on the ground but once i've been to my local track a few times I'll soon suss what the local lad's are using :smt002

Depending on riding position i might go for a top bridge conversion and put bars on it oldman

Should add, the "Hoover" pipes will go as i will put a ram air box in with some FCR's :smt001

Bike should arrive some time late next week - actually hoping next Saturday :smt001

Once i get it running I want to do a power check on it as is, then when i start to change things over see what effect they are having.

Priced up the Xanthus arm and is £247 new which isn't to bad if I can't find a used one.

Already have these on their way to give me some options :smt002

Missed out on the carbon fibre ram air box :smt010

Next is to find out what the spec is on the BEET cams compared to SP ones.

Better unsubscribe from this thread now then :smt002

Already hunting for a specialized tuner to see what can be done :smt017

Mind you there is plenty info on here but want to see about un shrouding the valves - I'm a dab hand at porting and polishing so can cover that but would hate to remove to much from the head.

Is it possible to put a L9 motor in it without much problem?

If i go big bore and the original motor has low enough miles, it will get the make over :smt001

all zxr engines will bolt in mate, think the thermostat housing needs turning 180 degree's if going L to H or vice versa.

After finding out that the BEET are double the price of a set of SP , I think I know where I will be getting my cams from.

What's the UK price on Kwak SP cam's?

Any advantage having a ZXR400M ignitor box over the H?

Are the valve springs stronger in the M motor and is it good practice to fit the followers too?

Cheers guys,

DS :smt001

if by "M" you mean SP (rather than uk spec 21119-1332 M) then yes, but you'll need a whole loom and ignition rotor to match it. IIRC its a slighly diff advance curve, higher rev limit, and ability to map a TPS off the flatties.

been thinking the same thing as there's one on ebay .. dont think i can be bothered though, most folk here seem to run stock cdi's (1332), get them modded, or replace with aftermarket programmable stuff.. which is probably the way i'll go if i change from stock (more to fiddle with :smt003 )

afaik springs/followers are the same, but i couldnt swear to it.
