Today's photo shoot! :smt001

My desktop shot.

The pipe is getting a bit of a scrapping on right handers - wouldn't mind seeing the sparks fly :smt002

Dialed in the forks today and what a difference that has made, should realy photo my trainers ( I know :smt018 ) as I have just about holed both sides of them :smt003 . I have gone for about 80Kg of pre-load with the rebound set at 8 clicks and the bottom compression at 6 clicks, this is giving very positive feedback but can be a little stiff for cruising - but I don't do much of that :smt002 Chicken strip has been reduced by half already :smt003

Just love how it swoops into corners now and also the ability to sit it up and change tact - smashing! Good for when you encounter something in your line so very re-assuring that it has that ability at pace :smt003

I reckon that's the chappy to use, the 'H' spindle is 17mm same as the ZRX but my front wheel must be an 'L' or 'SP' as it is 21mm and looking at the two photos of yours and mine - yours is bigger phnarrr phnarr :smt047

that certainly requires a bigger allen key than an L, L's are 14mm and 12mm

Have been enjoying the conversion on the bike, it paid for itself the other week when I was "hoofing" it through the traffic and a motorcycle cop appeared from no where and gave chase.

My mirrors are now vibration free and from the corner of my eye I could see his flashing lights so backed down and cruised in behind a car. By the time he had caught up with me I was well under the speed limit but he still pulled me to give me a :smt014 about going so fast!

It's actually very strange to look in your mirrors and find the image in them is crystal clear :smt001

The steering damper is now reduntant - I have had several excursions up and over the mountain roads and the front hasn't shaked it's head once :smt003
I picked up some rear risers for a ZRX1100 and before sending them out asked if I could try them on my bike, they work a bloody treat and have transformed the over all ride too "silky smooth" the new geometry of the rear shocks is soaking up the bumps with very little transmission through the chassis :smt003 , it has also raised the ride height of the rear and given the front a quicker steering much like it was originally. It does feel very sporty but with a nice cruiser comfort feedback so inspires confidence in what I am doing with it. When the wife is on the back it actually feels better but that's probably down to my settings for thrashing it as I don't do that with the missus on the back - could never forgive myself if anything happened to her from my own doing.

Unfortunately I am not able to ride it just now :smt005 - you'll see why on another thread!! Not for the faint hearted BTW :smt002

Here's how the bike is looking for just now - the 2yr MOT is due soon so I will be returning it to nearly factory standard for that, complete front end,carbs,exhaust and indy's.

Image

Oh, I also got the clocks back on and the ignition barrel.

Image

I treated myself to this bit of practical Bling :smt003 (ZRX1200 - 17mm fitting)

Next pic should be for the MOT

I know some one selling one in the UK, it's a Black one with a Kerker 4-1 on it *I sent it to him) just been MOTed too, I think he's got it listed on Ebay

You should be able to see it here;

http://www.zrxocboard.com/board/showthr ... 092&page=2

There should be a Red one on Ebay;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1995-KAWASAKI-ZRX ... dZViewItem

Bat motorcycles also have a Lime Green with TMR carbs on it.

Nope sold!!

Rear fitted

Post by Mori Man »

Wow! How time fly's by oldman

The bike has gone through a fair transformation since the last photo in this thread.

I have only just gotten round to fitting the ZXR400H rear wheel and have so far stuck with the same USD's :smt003

So what have I done since the last post:

Fitted alloy mini replica indy's with dark lenses.
Clear acrylic headlight.
New decals on side panels , tank and bikini cowl.
Top stem nut.
Ohlins steering damper (for looks) ZX-6R
Digital speedo (work in progress).
High Throttle kit.
Alloy cap for brake master.
Mirror extenders.
Clutch clamp mirror holder (now in-line)
Swage "Black line" braided hoses.
SS Mesh on velocity stacks.
Carb' heat shield.
KR-1S Dual outlet fuel tap.
NGK R09 Leads.
BEET 3D Titanium Exhaust.
Phase Black Back n Up shock risers.
ZXR Rear brake master cap.
Brembo rear master.
17" rear wheel.
Magnesium eccentric adjusters.
Brembo 34mm 2 pot rear caliper.
upped the jetting to #160 mains :smt003

In the process of making a carbon alloy dash to set the digital speedo and rev counter into.

17" Rear Wheel conversion:

For a long time I was wanting to do this and still needed to pick up the caliper and hanger from a ZXR too. The torque arm was going to always be tricky but as luck would have it I found a ZXR one which had been converted for fitment onto the ZRX :smt001 - finding a half decent rear brake set-up was proving to be more difficult.

I was resolving my self to the fact that i would need to come up with something myself and the catalyst was the opportunity of a cheap un-used rear Brembo caliper biggrin . Then the Grey matter kicked in and plans were set a foot :smt001

So, if your wanting to fit a rear Brembo on your ZXR you should be able to follow this same set-up and just use your existing torque arm, the spacers are more than likely a different size from what you'll need on the ZXR.

Parts used:

17" ZXR400H Wheel
ZXR400L Hub with cush drive.
ZXR400H inner hub bearing spacer.
ZX-6R 525 pitch 42T sprocket.
Active Brembo caliper adapter - ZRX11/1200
Two custom SS spacers.
Two SS straps with alloy spacers for torque arm.
ZRX400 spindle. (ZXR400 OK)
ZXR400H rear Disc

(carbon sheet in background for new dash)
Image
Image

1st task was to do a "dry" fit and measure up what spacers I needed to get made, you can see the ZXR torque arm;

Image
Image
Image
Image

Then off to the machine shop and got these made;

Image
Image
Image
Image

Then I refurbished the disc and gave it a fresh coat of Gold, fitted some cone head SS bolts into the caliper and done a test fit of the new spacers;

Image
Image

Next day I was waiting for a shipment to be picked up (4 x RG400 engines 1 x RG500 , exhausts and other parts - 320Kg's of the stuff !!) so back out and got everything fitted up;

Image
Image
Image

Wasn't happy about the torque arm so went down the local DIY centre and picked up some SS straps. The paddock stand bobbin was removed, drilled and tapped in the back and re-fitted.

So here is how it is looking now :smt004

Wish it was matey , sadly the pictures make it look a lot cleaner than it is :smt010

Thanks for the words of encouragement though :smt001

I lost out getting this exhaust system last year and ever since wanted one :smt007 in a way it worked out OK as I got this one cheaper (£150) as no interest in it :smt003 See them regularly go for £350+

You might like these shots too winks
